Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a nice holiday season and maybe some new pieces for your collection!!

I forgot last month to include a picture of a collectors assortment of the ponies - we often see the red one but after acquiring the blue one for my collection I checked Pam's book to see what others existed and was surprised by the color assortment.

These are our ponies! Hope you like them! Not sure if ours is the same blue shade as you have. I don't believe pink is listed as colors found also. BOOK says there is a mint green one out there but we have yet to find it!!... maybe someday!

Does anyone have any other color in their collection???
A couple of collectors sent in some pictures! Nice display of the miniatures animals with gold and decals. Such cuties! What we refer to as the milk can decals are the hardest to assemble as a set.
Another collector who somehow manages to find some great deals while out and about AND she has her daughter hooked as well! She completed the set of banks - great display!
Have a story to share from a collector - such fun to hear others adventures - some months I think I have nothing to write about then sit down at the computer and can go on and on - same way with meeting with collectors - the stories abound!!!

"My wife and I met and became friends with a couple from South Dakota severalyears ago from seeing them every year at an event that we do their every year on the first weekend in June. As we would see them every year we would visit with them at the event and also would go out with them a time or two each year for supper at local restaurants. They knew that we collected cookie jars but really we hadn’t gone into much of the hobby with them but they did remember that we collected Shawnee and I had also talked to them about the Hairys and the other somewhat special pieces. Three or four years ago they called a week or two before we were to arrive and wanted to know when we were coming etc. As I was talking to him he was telling me about this cookie jar that they had seen at a local antique store that when they asked the owners about it was a Shawnee and it also had hair. I can still remember the excitement that I immediately felt and also the thought of it already being bought by some other collector and I expressed to him that I sure wished that he would have called sooner and also asked if he would mind going back to that store to see if it was still there. I also can remember his reply as he said I didn’t call as it had such a ridiculous high price on it as they had a price of $400 on it. It absolutely blew his mind when I told him that at that time I had given over $2,000 for a cookie jar. You have probably already realize that this story has a sad ending and the jar was gone and I also went to the store when we got there and talked to the owner to see if he knew who he had sold it to as they might have just bought it to resale and also asked where he purchased it thinking that the previous owner might have more to sell but struck out on all fronts. I am sure that we all have stories like this but this ending makes the good ones feel that much better."

I had to laugh about him telling his friend about how much he had paid on a jar - there was a post on Facebook I copied and posted about hoping a spouse did not sell his tools for what he claimed to have paid - how many of us tell non collectors how much we have paid for certain pieces! I remember buying the cottage cookie jar for $400 from Supnicks over 25 years ago from a large ad in Antique Trader - My Dad actually drove over to see it when it arrived saying "Lin, you can buy a used car for $400!!!!"
Hoping some of you will send in pictures of your holiday gifts!

2020 is going to be a great year and looking forward to seeing what it brings. Wishing everyone the happiest of New Years!!!!

Until next month.

I recently received an email referencing the Camp Sweeney "Smiley" bank complete with pictures. This has been addressed a couple times in earlier Newsletters. I've provided links below.
For those of you not familiar with him, this what he looks like.
Now I'm wondering how many of the banks are around. If you have one, drop me an email. If you have seen any in your travels, please let me know.
