Shawnee Tales
April 2020

I hope this finds everyone well and adhering to the guidelines for staying home. Certainly not something we ever expected to see happen.

I've been working on reorganizing and dusting (ugh) pottery. Early Spring cleaning.

A collector sent in a picture of his recent finds to complete a nice arrangement.
I had a stroke of luck this past month - my TV went out and the pedestal style on the other one was different making my cabinet too narrow - on Marketplace saw a newly listed credenza that would fit - was thrilled to find it and the seller and his wife actually delivered it to me! As a collector this cabinet was perfect as had display area! Worked perfectly for assorted pitchers.
Everyone should be pretty much homebound but no contributions coming in!

Have a story to share that happened to me. A friend and I were talking about pieces we are looking for and I was telling him a story about an older collector who years ago visited and cautioned me about as a single person to not put all my money in pottery - he was sort of like a fond uncle to me - well, my friend and I were talking about salt boxes and match holders, which pattern I needed - when I went into the Shawnee room to confirm - lo and behold tucked into a match holder were twelve hundred dollar bills - had to have been there for nearly twenty years, maybe longer. We had a good laugh - absolutely no recall of tucking it away there. Discovered I need the blue fern match holder but certainly a nice surprise! Funny the things we do.

Everyone take care and stay well,
Until next month,

I finally find my Blox picture -
I know there are some of you that collect Terrace Ceramics. Sometime back I saw this piece on Ebay and thought I had maybe found a GT piece of Terrace. I soon thought wrong! On the second look, no gold, just some effort to make it standout, which it does. On third look, it looks like ceramics alright, likely the home/class variety. It is looking at antiquity, over 50 years old. I know - weak, be if we don't get a little more participation from readers I'll give some more next month.
I forgot to put this Pony in last month's stable.
