Shawnee Tales
May 2020

Wonder how everyone is dealing with the pandemic quarantine - I grew up always knowing about the 1918 pandemic that took so many lives as my fathers mother lost her first husband and two of her three children to it. My Dad's half brother was 18 years older than him. With all the advancement in medicine it is hard to believe that something as tragic as this could repeat and affect the entire world. Hope all of you are safe and healthy.

We did get some nice contributions of pictures from readers to share. I have been doing some rearranging as well as dusting! Arizona is expected to hit 100 this weekend - and friends in Ohio and Iowa are still getting snow!

Beautiful picture of teapots for Spring sent in.

"Being cooped up from the governor's stay at home order due to Covid-19, I've realized how much our lives have changed! However, I'm also reminded that spring has sprung, and have enjoyed walks through the neighborhood observing natures beautiful spring colors. With that in mind, I wanted to share some pretty Shawnee flower teapots with everyone. At first glance many look the same, but no two are alike. I have chosen some of the more common hand painted teapots to show the many variations. There is the conventional style, embossed, horizonal and vertical ribbed bases, ribbed spouts, ribbed collars, gold trimmed, regular handles, handles with hooks and pinkie rests, squared handles, dark and light painted green leaves, plain lids, flowered lids, striped lids, plain finials, painted finials; and some teapots have one flower, some have two or three flowers... subject to each artists interpretation. (And the back side of the teapot may match the front, or can be different)! See if you can find the different variations !! Happy Spring!!"
Another collector sent in some assorted pictures of displays - everyone enjoys seeing how we display our collections - wish more of you would share!!!
Some of you might recall seeing a lamp I discovered many years ago - probably 25 years ago at a Thursday night antique walk. The shop owner told me it had been a wedding gift to a couple in the 1950's. Makes us wonder what possessed this to be paired together. Have always enjoyed it and love the Muggsy decal which only recently was I able to find a Muggsy jar with the decal.
Looking for pictures for next month!

Until then……..
