Was delighted to have several contributors for this months newsletters! Always fun to see others collections and the way they display them. So many more pieces I would love to add if only I had more room!! As I look through the pictures I always find pieces I would like to add to my collection. I think most of us are looking for additional room to display more pieces!!! With this pandemic few of us are getting out to look for pieces and probably shopping Ebay all the more for a fix!!!!
I heard this past month that Shirley Corl passed away. I don't collect the Supnick commemoratives but understand she did a lot of other jars as well and was quite a talented artist. Many of our collectors do collect the commemorates and enjoy the jars. Sad loss to collectors.

Another so called "artist" who sells "artist enhanced" Shawnee jars on Ebay keeps listing the doctored Hairys and Smileys with bugs and butterflies. At least he lists them as enhanced but sadly new collectors are often fooled in to thinking they are vintage decorated because the jars are authentic vintage yet the cosmetic effects are recent. I just wish he would list them as enhanced by himself! Be cautious!

Had thought there might be more information forthcoming on the Potters Wheel bookend reproduction - so little is known that it is hard to find any more information. Even the genuine vintage ones are difficult to come by.

Quite some time back I had seen a listing for a green Granny Ann teapot - non gold trim but with decals - as many of you know I am a decal freak when it comes to Shawnee so was tempted by this piece. Months later I found one on Ebay and purchased it - identical to the first one I saw - does anyone else have any with the same decals or even a non gold with other decals. Odd that even oddities tend to have a common thread in decoration.
Hope this finds everyone well and coping with the quarantine.

Until next month -

A why didn't I think of that moment! Notice the inverted planting dishes under the Granny and Truck planter. from Doug.
Doug's Corner
A couple things -
A question asking the maker of this rocking horse. I promised to look in my books, but before I got to it the questioner found this opinion.

CanyonRoad says " Rio Hondo, El Monte, California. They specialized in small collectible figurines, especially animals.

The earliest label was a plain paper sticker, printed in red. A foil label that said "Made in California" followed by the company name, was used in the 1940s and 1950s. The label on this piece was from the store where it was purchased, probably a price tag."

Sounds good to me, I like detail and confidence.

The other thing was this little planter. Shawnee like, but I think more American Bisque Co. like. It's in the eyes and base.

Last but not least. A contributor to the March 2020 Newsletter neglected to send these pictures. Some interesting test glazes.
