Shawnee Tales
Jan 2021
The holidays are winding down - sure was a strange one with this pandemic and everyone isolating. So many were unable to share the holiday with family members and friends.

Heard some really sad news last night via Facebook - Art Grindley passed away from Covid. His father was a President of Shawnee in the mid 1940's and prior to that Grindley Pottery. Art shared a lot of information over the years, some that was shared in our newsletter - Grindley pottery actually brought the line of lobster ware to Shawnee and the pieces with the aqua bases and carrot top were manufactured by Grindley not Shawnee.

Had some pictures shared this past month. Some finds along the Shawnee trail.

"Found these treasures the day after Christmas.. Not traditional Christmas shopping but quite a fun find!"

Earlier finds in December - same collector!!!!  Appreciate the pictures - fun to see what is being discovered!
I had a bit of a Shawnee Christmas - received a really hard to find pair of gold range shakers with double decals - was thrilled to add them.
Also a friend found me a fern sugar/grease jar - after seeing his I decided I wanted to have them in each color - now with the yellow I am on my way! To date I have only had the small aqua fern cookie jar and the match boxes and salt boxes I think in all colors!!!
There was a really great jar sold on Ebay a couple of weeks ago - the gold green coat Winnie bank cookie jar - beautiful jar and many of you know it was my Holy Grail - took me 25 years with a picture on my refrigerator to add her to my collection and I don't even collect the bank jars. She is a really hard to find jar and stunning. There is a non gold version that is actually a different color of green - more of an olive. Probably one of a kind. I had it for a short time but had wanted to match it to my other one but the coloring did not work so I regrettably let her go - the collector who has it is thrilled with her! At the time I was more focused on adding Hairy's to my collection!!!!
Next month will feature a collectors newest addition - I am looking forward to pictures!

Until next month, everyone stay safe and healthy.
