Shawnee Tales

Another sweltering month in Arizona! Sounds like most of the country is setting heat records
Let's revert back to a cooler Spring and a readers contribution of butterflies and flowers - some great displays and what a variety of unique decorations.
I love the miniatures with all the specialized decorations - have often thought what possesses us to collect the jars being such large pieces - my house is wall to wall pottery but love the feeling it adds. My Mom was an obsessive collector and it has been overwhelming sorting through their home - I see on Facebook so many selling off collections left to them or even their own as they get older - it is quite a job!!!! I only know a few people whose kids care about their collections!!!!
Those of you in the Midwest are so lucky to be able to find the more unusual pieces that were kept by family members. When my family moved from Iowa to Arizona I am surprised the family Smiley tulip cookie jar made the journey as the folks left crocks, cedar chests and so many items I would later come to wish they had moved. Cute story though they did bring the family Radio Flyer sled of all things. It ended up in the attic of the first home they bought which later went to my youngest brother Lee who was born here in Arizona in 1961. When he passed away twenty years ago while we were clearing the house, the sled was discovered in the attic - still in the shrink wrap from North American Van Lines!!! To this day I have the sled over sixty years later! Not Shawnee related but thought some of you might enjoy the story!
.
Until next month - hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.
